Representing the underground bass movement, Philadelphia producer King Joe surprised his fans by spontaneously releasing a four-track EP titled Dark & Light.
Released on March 15 via Soundcloud, Dark & Light explores the inner workings of the universe and the duality of life. After all, without the dark, there would be no light. Filled with lo-fi soundscapes, ominous bass drops, and psychedelic undertones, Dark & Light encourages you to question the perception of your reality. From the Alan Watts sample on Thoughts Of Reality to the cinematic structure of Darker Vibrations, King Joe has showcased a newfound depth to his productions.
In an Instagram post, King Joe opened up about his inspirations for the project, stating that “You cannot defeat darkness by running from it, nor can you conquer your inner demons by hiding them from the world. In order to defeat the darkness, you must bring it into the light.”
