Mitis Drops Heartfelt Sophmore Album ‘Lost’

by Tyrone Basket

Sometimes you need to lose yourself to find yourself. It’s those moments of despair, heartache, and hurt where you pull yourself out from the ashes and become who you are meant to be. The past is the past, and the future hasn’t happened yet. All you have is the now. So no matter how astray you may feel, you are exactly where you are supposed to be. This is the story of Lost by Mitis. A beautiful triumph of healing and growth through mesmerizing soundscapes and alluring future bass melodies.

Mitis showcases his roots as a pianist.

Released on Seven Lions’ Ophelia Records, Lost is Mitis’s best work yet. Not only did the Pennsylvania producer showcase his out-of-this-world production skills but went back to his roots as a classical pianist with brilliant chords and dazzling melodies.

What stands out the most on Lost is the emotion and energy that Mitis puts into each and every track. You can tell he gives his whole heart to every production and leaves the listener with powerful songs that really connect on a deep level.

Lost is a story of heartbreak and triumph.

From the moment the album opens up on Searching, you are slowly transported into a world of emotional bliss. By the time the second track, Try, begins, you are fully engrossed in the story of pushing through hard times as RØRY’s captivating vocals not only drive the song but the momentum of the album. “When you gave all your love, But it wasn’t enough. When you swear this time, you’re giving up. You still gotta try. You know you gotta try,” sings the London-based singer-songwriter. As the album progresses, so does the journey as the protagonist battles heartbreak, lost love, and fear.

Mitis features a handful of talented artists.

Mitis teams up with some great talent in order to tell this story of heartbreak and triumph. Songs like Hurt featuring Zack Gray and Follow featuring Rico & Miella effortlessly capture the agony of a deteriorating love. Songs like When I Say You’re Mine featuring Luma & Notelle and Back to Me featuring Bella Renee, while sad, have an uplifting undertone. Mitis truly give a glimmer of hope to the listener. As the album closes, Mitis has his “Lost and Found” moment. The outro Found brings the story to a beautiful yet hopeful end with a graceful piano solo mixed with dreamy atmospheres.

Lost embraces healing when the world needs it most.

I can’t think of a better time for Lost to come out. As the world slowly rises from the atrocities that plagued this planet in the past year, Mitis offers a story of hope and healing. Like I said in the beginning, sometimes we need to lose ourselves to find ourselves. The world as a whole was Lost way before covid, but the pandemic allowed us to find ourselves and discover what truly matters. Now, as the smoke begins to clear, the healing can begin, and we make way for a new, better life. There is no better way to start the healing process than with powerful emotional music. Mitis’s Lost can offer just that.
