Shadow Child & Claude VonStroke Join Forces for ‘Steel Thing’

Shadow Child

In the spring of 2012, the UK DJ and producer Simon Neale switched his alias from Dave Spoon to Shadow Child as he transitioned from producing big-room to underground house. To celebrate his new direction, he released String Thing, a powerful house track filled with groovy strings and an undeniable bassline. Of course, it was immediately snatched up and signed by Claude VonStroke as the record quickly became a staple for Dirtybird Records

Now over ten years later, Shadow Child and VonStroke reimagined the iconic track adding some new age groove and changing its name to Steel Thing. While paying tribute to the original, this epically outlandish companion is filled with industrial soundscapes and tripped-out beats that’ll make you lose control.

“I’ve known Shadow Child for ages, and we were going to re-issue his classic ‘String Thing,’ but it quickly became a whole new idea. We called it ‘Steel Thing’ as an homage to the past, but this track sounds more like someone is hitting a metal pipe inside a psychedelic vortex,” VonStroke explained.
