Rezz has always been distinctly rebellious and edgy with her sound, but she’s taking that notion even further with her latest EP, IT’S NOT A PHASE. Fueled by unruly angst, the superstar DJ channels her inner goth as she returns to the sounds of punk and alternative rock, where her musical journey began.
Released on July 20 through her label Hypnovision, IT’S NOT A PHASE blends a myriad of edgy alt-rock influences with Rezz’s iconic bass-heavy sound. From the moody guitar melodies of Haunted Eyes with MKLA to the distorted basslines and haunting vocals of Blue In The Face, Rezz not only creates something revolutionary but perfectly captures the essence of that goth-like nostalgia.
“With this goth EP, I’ve really encapsulated some of my early inspiration musically before I even got into dance music. I grew up listening to bands exclusively and, over time, developed an understanding of what it was about those songs that I loved,” She explained.
