Lumasi Transformation EP

You can’t have a conversation about the future of bass music without mentioning the name Lumasi. Cultivating an undeniable sound grounded in unfiltered face-melting bass, the rising Denver producer is on a rapid climb to stardom. Following massive remixes with the likes of LSDREAM and Tape B, Lumasi is once again shaking up the scene with his debut EP, Transformation.

Transformation is a representation of renewal.

Released on Wednesday, March 6, through Wubaholics, Transformation is a time-bending two-track journey into sound and consciousness itself. Representing the concept of rebirth or renewal the EP explores the notion that one has to shed the perception of the self in order to raise your vibrations and become who you actually are.

However, for Lumasi, the record is a double entendre. Not only does the EP represent the actualization of his true self but who he is as a producer.

“These are special ones because they are the first tracks I made after experimenting with a different sound,” Lumasi explained in an Instagram post. “Some of you may know I used to be a melodic dubstep artist, but I lost my passion for making that style and wanted to branch out. These tracks represent my transformation as a bass music producer.”

Lumasi

Lumasi takes us on a trip through sound and vibrations.

Fueled by tripped-out soundscapes and all-encompassing waves of bass, Lumasi takes us on an enthralling quest toward enlightenment.

The first track, Transformation, immediately pulls you in with shimmering synths and interstellar atmospheres that feel like you’re floating through the vacuum of space before the captivating words of Alan Watts infiltrate your being. “This is a method for the transformation of consciousness, for a transformation of who you are,” the infamous philosopher recites before an ensemble of wonky bass and mind-altering frequencies dissolves the known reality that surrounds you.

If Transformation represents the metamorphosis of the self and the deconstruction of a former reality, then the final track, Ascension, signifies the leap into a new existence and state of being. The track first begins with otherworldly echoes of the past layered over a celestial voice that puts you in a dream-like trance. Then, as you find yourself floating between realities in a deep, meditative state, a wave of psychedelic wubz comes out of nowhere, propelling you to your newfound destination.

While only two tracks, Transformation is more than just a nine-minute venture into the sonic mind of Lumasi. The rising producer not only takes us on a psychedelic expedition into space and time but showcases his unique sense of artistry and, in doing so, creates an absolute must-listen.
