Happy Bicycle Day to all those who celebrate this world-changing holiday.
For those that don’t know, on April 19, 1943, Dr. Albert Hoffman unknowingly embarked on a journey that would forever alter the consciousness of the world. Five years after synthesizing the first-ever batch of LSD in 1938, the Swiss Chemist decided to examine the unknown substance to understand its potency. Like the true scientist he was, he would use himself as the experiment and dosed himself in his lab.
Two hours later, his perception of his surroundings began to change, and he decided it was time to head home and hopped on his bicycle. Of course, this is when he started to peak and, to use today’s terms was tripping balls.
“Little by little, I could begin to enjoy the unprecedented colors and plays of shapes that persisted behind my closed eyes. Kaleidoscopic, fantastic images surged in on me, alternating, variegated, opening and then closing themselves in circles and spirals, exploding in colored fountains, rearranging and hybridizing themselves in constant flux,” he noted.

Now decades later, April 19th has become known as Bicycle Day as psychonauts around the world celebrate this glorious holiday. To help you celebrate, we compiled a list of some of our favorite psychedelic electronic albums.
