The iconic French electronic duo Dirtyphonics just unveiled their sophomore album, Magnetic. Released on Friday, May 3, through Monstercat Uncaged, Magnetic is their first full-length album since their 2013 debut Irreverence. Drawing inspiration from a multitude of styles Dirtyphonics not only showcases a profound evolution of their sound but transcends genres for an unparalleled sonic experience.
Spanning across 12 electrifying tracks, the coveted bass conductors take listeners on a death-defying adventure like no other. Like chemists in a lab, they masterfully blend elements of dubstep, drum and bass, house, and heavy metal into one mind-melting sound. From the upbeat chaos of You Want Me with Circadian to the earth-shaking bass on Moonlight Runners and the heavy wubz on Athena is jam packed with nothing but certified bangers.
“As DJs on stage, we attract the attention of the crowd and channel it into a unified energy. For an instant, whether it’s at a show or through this new album, we all become one with the music, acting as the magnet that attracts and leads us in the same direction. We’ve infused these ideas in the artworks through the use of ferrofluids, a liquid that comes to life when attracted by the poles of a magnet. We all are like ferrofluids; the music is the magnet, and our album is ‘Magnetic,’” Dirtyphonics explained.
