Ending a prolonged hiatus, Ghastly has officially resurrected from the grave.
After years of dominating the dubstep scene as his alter ego GHENGAR, the beloved bass house producer, whose real name is David Crow, returns with an electrifying 30-minute mix, DOPAMINE MACHINE VOL. 1.
Released on Friday, May 1, DOPAMINE MACHINE VOL. 1 taps into the sound that originally built the Ghastly name, unleashing a fury of punchy 4×4 grooves, experimental bass textures, and high-impact edits built for the dancefloor.
Moving between a deep collection of unreleased IDs and heavy-hitting flips, the mix pulls listeners into a kaleidoscopic realm filled with psychedelic visuals, analog glitches, anime, and a nonstop barrage of bass.
DOPAMINE MACHINE VOL. 1 arrives just weeks after Crow stunned longtime fans with a cinematic reveal showing him climbing out of a grave beneath a tombstone reading “Here Lies Ghastly.”
Symbolizing a clear separation from GHENGAR, the mix not only marks the revival of Ghastly but signals a new era where the two projects exist as distinct creative universes.
“After a decade of navigating the yin and yang of my sound, I’ve finally channeled that duality into the hero and the villain. Ghastly returns to its roots and GHENGAR becomes what it was always destined to be: deathcore-heavy, brutal tearout featuring my vocals,” Crow explained. “Expect two mixes, 30 minutes each, all new music from Ghastly and GHENGAR. This is the last time Ghastly and GHENGAR will exist in the same space. Moving forward, these entities operate as two distinct worlds.”
