GRiZ and the alternative indie rock band Rainbow Kitten Surprise have joined forces to officially release the long-awaited It’s Called: Freefall Remix.
Arriving today, June 24, It’s Called: Freefall (GRiZ Remix) was first debuted at Bonnaroo 2023, where GRiZ filled in for RKS after an unexpected cancellation with a CTGH set at The What.
Fast forward three years, through a GRiZ hiatus to Bonnaroo 2026, RKS lead singer Ela Melo joined the funky bass producer on stage to perform the remix live, resulting in an emotional full-circle moment.
Capturing the emotional weight of the original, GRiZ layers RKS’s powerful vocals and expressive harmonies with a wave of soulful soundscapes and soaring bass drops, delivering a full sensory sonic experience that’s deeply nostalgic and will go down as one of the most historic moments in Bonnaroo history.
“A release three years in the making,” GRiZ shared. “You know we weren’t going to keep you waiting long after bringing it back where it started, together at Bonnaroo.”
