After dropping his highly acclaimed debut album PERIPHERY in 2023 RAVENSCOON is back with the lead single of his upcoming Glass Orchid album CHECKMATE.
Released on Friday, November, 22 CHECKMATE is a mind-bending fusion of experimental soundscapes and full-bodied bass.
Opening up with trance-inducing frequencies and thumping trap drums he lulls you into a daze before hitting you with surging forces of fluttering basslines and brain-tickeling beats. When the second drop creeps in the track switches course as an array of deep-cutting wubs and tremoring vibrations warp your perception of time.
“CHECKMATE was created as a dance floor smasher designed for full intensity, energy, shock value, and excitement,” Ravenscoon noted. “I wanted to create something that bridges the styles of classic 140 dubstep with riddim – and trap drums. It’s something familiar but also experimental. truly my CHECKMATE.”
