The Los Angeles dubstep duo, RIOT, is back with their long-awaited sophomore album, The Machine.
Released on Friday, August 1 through Gud Vibrations, The Machine spans 15 tracks, unleashing a cinematic storm of distortion, melody, and mechanical chaos. Known for their boundary-pushing sound design, the duo sharpens their vision into a calculated strike of sound fusing apocalyptic drops with themes of artistic rebellion and personal liberation.
From the ominous opener Genesis 710 to the glitch-fueled chaos of Click Clack and the unexpected hip-hop closer Slide, The Machine tears through a full spectrum of destruction and emotion that’s both explosive and captivating.
Led by the unrelenting force of March of the Machine, the album perfectly captures the tension between human spirit and artificial control. Unfolding like a sci-fi novel, each track builds with purpose, fueling a larger narrative of resistance while taking listeners on a bass-fueled journey through dystopian soundscapes and raw emotion.
“‘The Machine’ was born out of rebellion and the strong belief that no matter how massive the machine is, we won’t back down,” RIOT explains. “Every note we play and every lyric we write is part of our march forward. Not toward control but toward liberation.
