Raaket, the rising bass producer reppin’ South Florida isn’t just emerging as one of the illest in the game, he’s about to take it over.
Known for his unrelenting, bass heavy sound, he has become a champion of the underground while garnering the attention of some of the biggest names in the scene.
However, it’s not just the massive performances at festivals like Sol Fest and Evolutions or the fact LSDREAM opened up DREAMROCKS with an official Raaket remix that sets him apart. It’s his cutting-edge sound design that places him ahead of the curve.
Intricately weaving glitchy synths, thunderous basslines, and face-melting wubs into one full-bodied experience, he’s cultivated a sound that’s raw, innovative, and beautifully chaotic.
“I take pride in crafting all my sounds from scratch until I feel they give off the energy I want,” Raaket shared in an interview with The Daily Frequency. ‘It’s taken years of learning sound design and dialing in that skill to make the sounds I like to represent Raaket. Committing to that has allowed me to stand out and create my own lane in the dubstep scene. Mad respect to anyone who is learning sound design and dialing in that sound.”
Molded through a diverse range influences, Raaket’s productions transcend the boundaries of bass music as he finds inspiration in everything from hip-hop to reggae, classic rock and more.
“I have a diverse taste in music, but a lot of my influences come from funk, old-school hip hop, reggae, and alternative/classic rock. You’ll hear a lot of brass instruments in my songs paired with funky, upbeat drums and tempos. I also love using rap acapellas over my music for live sets,” he explained.
With his latest release, Feel Like, he takes those influences even further and for the first time incorporates live instrumentation.
“Feel Like all started from a jam session I had playing my guitar one day. I found this scale and progression, so I decided to record it and attempt to build a song around it,” he explained. “This was the first time I had ever tried incorporating my guitar, so it was a totally new approach to writing a song.”
By pairing guitar chords with a fusion of immersive soundscapes and all encompassing drops of bass he creates a track that’s not just full of energy but deeply emotional.
“Playing my guitar and making a Raaket song made the experience way more intimate and fulfilling. I know I’m not the only dubstep lover who also likes acoustic music, so I’m glad I was able to blend the two and connect with an audience that appreciates that experience.”
Not only does Feel Like bridge the gap between bass and electronic but it perfectly captures the essence of that old school dubstep vibe, resulting in a tangible and nostalgic sonic experience.
“I was inspired by classic UKF dubstep of the 2010s era that I grew up listening to, and I wanted to give off the nostalgia that came from that music. Dubstep has come such a long way and evolved so much since that era… I hope this song gives a sense of reminiscence from some of the golden days of dubstep.”
Of course, crafting the boundary-pushing sound brought to life in Feel Like is nothing new for the Florida producer. After a breakout run in 2024, he capped off the year with a massive 4 track EP, No Nonsense.
“My brand is all about sound, and while I like to have fun with it, I also take my approach to making quality music seriously. I wanted this No Nonsense to be a testament to where I’m at on this journey, and how serious I am about making good music and growing my project. I think all the songs debut different aspects of my signature style and sound that make the Raaket project what it is.”
But, his music isn’t the only thing that packs a punch. His live shows are where his earth-shaking sound manifests into a playful yet powerful release of energy.
“I always aim to impress the crowd with lots of high-energy dubstep and fun edits of my original music. Lately, my sets have been almost all original, and I’m proud to be able to do that. If me and the crowd aren’t hot and sweaty by the end of the set, then I did something wrong!”
Everything from the commitment to his craft to his innovative artistry, and electrifying live shows not only helped carve a lane of his own but also become one of the biggest acts on the South Florida collective Lows Only.
“When I met Luiggi and Joely, (the co-owners of Lows Only,) I was a very small artist with only a few originals and less than 1K followers on SoundCloud. Together, over the past 3 years, we’ve worked hard and went to great lengths to grow the Raaket project to the level it’s at today. They are like a second family to me and make my music journey much more rewarding. I’m very grateful to be partnered with them as we build up the Raaket project and give other emerging artists opportunities to perform in South Florida.”
Together, they are taking the underground by storm and despite the challenges of growing a bass scene in a place known for house music, they have helped put South Florida bass on the map.
“South Florida is definitely known more for its house scene, but the bass scene is still very strong with events like Cyclops Cove and the original Forbidden Kingdom taking place here. That being said, the experimental bass scene is more challenging to hold down with the popularity of riddim and tearout appealing to more people here. Lows Only works hard to curate unique events debuting emerging artists representing true dubstep culture. There’s a strong community here that loves this music, and I believe any dubstep artist should want to perform here to grow their brand.”
Building off the momentum of the past few years Raaket is not only pushing the boundaries like never before but is on his way to becoming a household name in the bass scene. In other words: he’s just getting started.
“I’ve got some exciting show announcements across the country as a headliner and direct support for big artists. I have multiple collabs with massive artists and the best music I’ve made to date in the vault, ready for release throughout the year. My next release will actually be a mix next month, but I’m considering a new series name other than What’s With All That Raaket, to begin a new era of the Raaket project. I’m very excited for what’s to come and super grateful for all my loyal fans and the Lows Only team for supporting me to this point.”
